Argonautica were engaged to provide the Marine Manager, Vessel Superintendent, DPA and CSO roles in order to assist in the procurement from the Royal Australian Navy, and manage the re-commissioning and classification of the ex-HMAS WESTRALIA for proposed future conversion to an extended well test vessel “FPSO Shiraz”.
The initial phase of the project involved leading the survey team to ensure re-classification as a general cargo vessel and obtain compliance with Lloyds Classification Society and register the vessel in the Cayman Islands. Further surveys were then undertaken in order to translate into economic evaluation for project costing.
Onboard training of new crew then took place and the vessel was then sailed to PT Karimun (Indonesia) in preparation for conversion.
Phase two involved leading the marine team in the F.E.E.D study focusing on marine and topsides integration, and develop a suite of documents for inclusion in the Basis of Design, and presentation to Key Stakeholders for project evaluation.
